Statement of Beliefs

GRACE OF GOD BAPTIST CHURCH
(Doctrinal Statement)

We Believe:

In one God, manifest in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; co-equal and co-eternal.

In the perfect humanity and the perfect Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In His substitutionary death on the cross, His burial, His resurrection, (bodily), and His second coming for His saints.

In the personality of the Holy Spirit and full recognition of His work in this age: reproving, convicting, sealing, baptizing, instructing, filling, and indwelling.

In the Bible as the infallible word of God, and that "All scripture is given by inspiration of God."

That salvation is by grace through faith; it is the gift of God unmerited on our part. That we are redeemed only through the shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross.

That all those who have accepted Christ as their personal Saviour are born again and members of the church. And that the church is the Body and Bride of Christ regardless of membership in any organized church or denomination.

In the eternal security of the believer, (once saved, always saved) In the personality of Satan. That he was created perfect but fell through pride and became the originator of sin, the enemy of God, and the "god of this world."

In the fall of man by believing Satan and his condemnation as a sinner which includes all mankind.

Church History

Grace of God Baptist Church was organized June 4, 1983 in the home of Rev. and Sis. R.L. Bonner at 775 Jadewood Dr. Dallas, Texas. The organizing membership totaled 13 people. The names are Rev. R.L. Bonner, Sis. Mary Bonner, Bro. Eric Bonner, Bro. Brian Bonner, Sis. Johnnie Bell Turner, Sis. Sasheia Samples (candidate for baptism), Sis. Nichelle Wimbush (candidate for baptism), Bro. Leo Wimbush, Sis. Bobbie Wimbush, Bro. Clifton Wimbush, Sis. Ellise Powell, Sis. Mary Helen Harp and Sis. Lorene Jones.

Our first service was held June 5, 1983 at Nat Clark funeral Home on Denley Dr. In August 1983 we moved to Reed’s Funeral Home at 3910 S. Lancaster Rd. In 1985 we moved to 2302 Scotland Dr. and converted a house to a church. In 2 years we built a new church building at that location and entered on December 31, 1987. We remained at that location 12 years and on October 31, 1999 we sold our building.

November 7, 1999 we went into a storefront building at 215 E. Beltline Rd., Desoto, Texas, and began having service. We worshipped there 11 months and on October 15, 2000, we moved to 601 N. Hampton Rd. It’s been a long hard journey but the Lord has kept us.
